The name Boko Haram strikes fear among businesspeople and foreign shop owners in Mamelodi township, east of Pretoria, where the vigilante group has wreaked havoc for more than two years.
The group has been collecting money, including protection fees of R300 and upwards, depending on the size of the shop, from foreign nationals who own tuck shops across the township since 2018.

Police are on Monday investigating the deaths of two people – one in Alexandra and the other in Jeppestown, while trying to contain pockets of violence, which started on 9 July 2021. Officers have found the body of a man in Jeppestown. In parts of Gauteng, shops were looted, properties set alight as the escalated violence saw paramedics fleeing for their safety. Shops were vandalised and attacked. The whole thing happened during the night where emergency services had to pull back physically.

SAPS in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, working closely with their respective local Metro Police Departments, have heightened visibility and remain on high alert in response to incidents of opportunistic criminality and violent protests in the two provinces over the weekend. The Gauteng Police working closely with the JMPD [Johannesburg Metro Police Department] responded swiftly to sporadic incidents of looting of businesses and barricading of roads in Jeppe and Alexandra, and arrested 25 suspects. In response to the looting of businesses in Alexandra, “police arrested 18 suspects — 16 of them for public violence also linked to the shooting of a police officer who was rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention. Two other police officers sustained minor injuries. The other two suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property and malicious damage to property.
“This group of about 800 people is reported to have attacked police, resulting in the shooting of police officers who have now received medical attention, with only one in hospital, in a stable condition.

Wat gebeur nou na 1994 is dit reeds aan die gang, en dit word met elke rewolusie net erger en erger.

Nie lank daarna, is alle gebiede van swartes en khoi san se grondgebiede afgeneem deur die koloniale Engelse bewind en van die gebiede is reservate (vir swartes) en kroongebiede (khoi san en griekwas) omskep, met slegs kommunale regte. Vandag word dit deur die media, anc regering sowel as die wêreldregerings voorgehou dit was ons wat hierdie gebiede , APARTHEID begin het. Nee, dit was die Britte, nie ons nie. In 1854 is die Shepstone beleid in Port Natal afgekondig, want dit was reeds deur Rhodes in die Kaap kolonie in plek met Transkei en Ciskei, waar meestal Xhosa en ook die Xhosa oorloë gewoed het.
Alles gaan nie net oor Zuma nie, Zuma word as ‘n stertjie gebruik om die terreurdade aan te waai – om die vuur van terreur groter te maak – alles net beplande dade. Met hom ‘weg’, het die spul terroriste nou mos rede om alle besighede in die land te sluit, plunder of af te brand. Wie sê hy is ooit in die tronk, vir ons, veral die media word gewys hoe hy met begeleiding homself gaan oorhandig het in Estcourt. Sien is glo dat hy in die luukse tronk is. Dit was net die begin, en al die uitvoerings van plunder, terreur en afbrand rondom 12 Julie was lankal beplan. Hoeveel polisie optredes is daar werklik?
Met winkelsentrums wat afgebrand word, word heelwat besighede direk en indirek geraak. Die vervoer is 100% hiermee saam, daarom word trokke ook geteiken en sentrums. Polisiestasies wat baie min bemanning het, word ook sommer of afgebrand of oorgeneem – klink dit soos ‘n “staatsgreep” wat nie uitgesluit is nie. Veral met die eise van Zuma , wat net ‘n “wortel” is wat voorgehou word word die kop van Ramaphosa geëis. Heelwat van die plunder en afbrand het al vir dae voor Zuma gevonnis is, begin. Dink net, as daar geen nywerhede en besighede oor is om te bedryf nie, wie is volgende? Die inwoners en burgers van SA, wie anders – dis die realiteit.
