The FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro
Ivermectin is an inhibitor of the COVID-19 causative virus (SARS-CoV-2) in vitro.
A single treatment able to effect ~5000-fold reduction in virus at 48 h in cell culture.
Ivermectin is FDA-approved for parasitic infections, and therefore has a potential for repurposing.
Ivermectin is widely available, due to its inclusion on the WHO model list of essential medicines.
Although several clinical trials are now underway to test possible therapies, the worldwide response to the COVID-19 outbreak has been largely limited to monitoring/containment. We report here that Ivermectin, an FDA-approved anti-parasitic previously shown to have broad-spectrum anti-viral activity in vitro, is an inhibitor of the causative virus (SARS-CoV-2), with a single addition to Vero-hSLAM cells 2 h post infection with SARS-CoV-2 able to effect ~5000-fold reduction in viral RNA at 48 h. Ivermectin therefore warrants further investigation for possible benefits in humans.
No toxicity was observed with ivermectin at any of the concentrations tested.

A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India, has recently demonstrated that Ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug, can reduce in-hospital mortality rate of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. The study is currently available on the medRxiv* preprint server.

Ivermectin has been proposed as a potential definitive and prophylactic treatment for COVID-19. Ivermectin is an anthelmintic drug that is usually indicated for filarial and resistant scabies infections, but has been shown to have antiviral activity and anti-inflammatory activity in vitro. Ivermectin has the potential to be a promising directed therapy in the drug armamentarium against COVID-19, as it has been shown to have in vitro activity against SARS-CoV-2.

SAHPRA stated: Ivermectin is a widely used drug for the treatment and control of parasites in animals and is used to treat several tropical diseases in humans not commonly seen in South Africa, as well as scabies and head lice. Ivermectin is a synthetic derivative of the antiparasitic class of compounds known as avermectins. Millions of people have already used this medication against riverblindness with great success.
In South Africa ivermectin is registered for use under Act 36 of 1947 (Department of Agriculture) for use in animals. This means that veterinarians and other trained personnel are allowed to prescribe it as an antiparasitic agent for a variety of animals. The drug is not currently registered for human use, but SAHPRA occasionally grants Section 21 permits for the use of topical ivermectin as an unregistered product for the treatment of individual patients with conditions such as scabies or head lice.
Several investigators have reported that when tested in the laboratory, ivermectin inhibits replication of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Given the current coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, this has understandably received a lot of media attention. Thus, several clinical studies have been undertaken to evaluate ivermectin’s efficacy in treating the COVID-19 infection.

Who or what organisations have to decide that Ivermectin is good or bad to use against Covid-19 or Scabies or Riverblindness or any other disease if all were tested already? Was Ivermectin not tested for years after 1980 for Riverblindness or Scabies? Can SAHPRA show all their own tests they (or South Africa) have been done so far on Ivermectin that it is unhuman? It is all peoples’ right to have a flu injection and there was no lockdown or masks in the past with any flu situation in South Africa or any other place in the world – why now all of sudden? It is a handful of people that believe their own version that the people of South Africa must rather get so sick of the virus and die, but they do not a right to Ivermectin to use.

Neem kennis van al die korrupsie wat plaasvind sedert die beperkinge met die Covid-19 virus. En om alles te kroon, moet ons as burgers, hofsake maak teen die regering wat medikasies van ons weerhou – dis skending van ons almal se menseregte.
Nie net verdwyn al die noodfondse vir die virus nie, maar daar word teen elke blanke in hierdie land, en hul besighede gediskrimineer sodat daar slegs aan sekeres voorsien word. Hoeveel besighede het al hul deure gesluit weens die inperking.
Hoeveel moorde en aanvalle is al op Boere en ander gedoen in die tyd van aandklokreëls. Waar is die duisende weermaglede en polisie – hulle pas mos die see en oseane op? Nog iets wat aansluit by die skending van menseregte.
Alle burgers het menseregte wat tans geskend word, deur die weerhouding van medikasie wat die virus nie net vertraag nie, maar ook moontlik genees. Daar is verskeie voorbeelde waar die produk suksesvol getoets is in Suid- en Noord-Amerika, Indië, Australië en ander plekke. Die feit dat dieselfde middel deur mense in 15-17 Afrika lande, Yemen en Suid-Amerikaanse state gebruik is vir die behandeling en uitwissing van Rivierblindheid, is nog ‘n verdere bewys dat dit wel geskik is dat mense dit kan en mag gebruik. Nigerië gaan dit ook nou verder toets. Selfs met kinders kon dit gebruik word.
Dus, waarop staan al hierdie owerhede, wetenskaplikes, of almal wat gekant is teen die gebruik van Ivermectin, om dit van ons weg te hou. Ander lande het dit reeds gebruik en heelwat het reeds toetse gedoen.
Die regerings en wetenskaplikes wil hê ons moet hulle vertrou met hulle inentings wat binne ‘n paar maande, sonder geskiedenis op die rakke beland het , maar as daar ‘n middel vanuit die verlede afgestof word, wat baie goeie resultate lewer, dan is beide hierdie regerings en organisasie daarteen gekant. Dis ons gesondheid – ons families se gesondheid. Nogal iets om aan te herkou.
Daar bestaan nie meer iets soos vertroue nie. En die biljoene rande wat gesteel word, kan ons 10 nuwe lande heropbou.
Bowendien, net om te wag vir ‘n entstof wat dalk nooit hier gaan uitkom wat na 6 maande gaan verval, en in elk geval nie 100% veilig is of waarborge bied nie – is soos om selfmoord te pleeg en met eie gesondheid te dobbel.
Sover is alle entstowwe vir 6 maande tot ‘n jaar geldig. Dit is hoegenaamd nie goed genoeg nie. Ivermectim kan en lyk of dit ‘n goeie teenvoeter sal wees teen die virus of is die regering en wetenskaplikes bang daarvoor dat dit wel 100% suksesvol sal wees?
Moenie die burgers se intelligensie onderskat nie, ons het ook regte.
