Eskom – diefstal en onwettige kragdrade

Eskom theft and illegal electricity.   Actually, they all know exactly what they are doing.    Or maybe, it is people (electricians) from Eskom itself and other electrical businesses to make sure they all get free electricity.    Even those illegal immigrants from Africa do get it for free in the same way.   There are lots of syndicates that make sure of that.    So where is the income going, a cheap option perhaps but at the end, we the taxpayer must pay for all those “cheap option schemes”.

An income loss to Eskom, but mostly to us, we are paying more than double for our power.    There is no loadshedding in all those areas, because of the illegal non-registered electricity and it is free.  “Somebody” is making the money from us.  In Some places the municipalities put up the yellow lights too.

Lees net hoeveel miljoene sit Eskom eenkant indien mense doodgeskok of beseer word.  Heelwat inwoners gee nie ‘n duit om of hulle beseer of iemand verloor nie.

2016 – Power utility, Eskom, hopes to do away with unnecessary deaths caused by illegal connections, cable theft and money mongers.  The power giant said it was concerned that while some people received their electricity legally, there were those who endangered their lives – and those of others – by opting for illegal connections.

In a move to prevent fatalities, the company has set aside R40 million to protect the lives of innocent people, especially children.

During a media briefing at its head quarters in Bellville, ahead of a tour to Marikana informal settlement in Philippi, the power utility said it was mainly concerned about the death of children, noting that between 2014 and March this year, 25 lives had been lost, with children accounting for 30 percent of them.

Alwie Lester, Eskom’s Western Cape Provincial head, said in a growing city like Cape Town where there were many informal settlements, illegal connections and electricity theft were major problems.

He said the growing number of informal settlements forced people to resort to making illegal electricity connections, adding that connections from sub-stations, neighbours’ meter boxes and transformers were all examples of illegal connections.

Mr Lester appealed to people to apply for electricity, but warned they would not electrify informal settlements on private land.

“It is not surprising that there is a significant demand for electricity in the township. But people need to do things right,” he said.

“We want to avoid electricity-related injuries and fatalities in all our communities,” said Mr Lester.

But, he said, the company’s interventions were often met with resistance. He said in areas such as Khayelitsha there were syndicates that stole the cables and that vandals and thieves normally left hazardous wires exposed, putting people’s lives in danger. He said some of the risk areas included Marikana, Crossroads, Marcus Garvey and RR Section.

During a tour to Marikana, residents said they had no choice but to illegally connect their electricity.

They said they were aware that their actions were illegal.

Resident Elvis Mamputi said they were not allowed access to electricity because they were on private land illegally.

“We know how to prevent the danger of being electrocuted. Even at homes we have our own preventative measures. We cannot wait for Eskom’s processes to have electricity. If they are not giving us electricity, we will continue with these illegal connections,” said the defiant resident.

Wakhe Qhingana said they were prepared to die to get electricity. He said they had occupied the land that is now Marikana illegally so they were not expecting anyone, including Eskom, to give them electricity.

“We came here and stayed here under difficult circumstances. There is no other way to get electricity but illegally. We are fully aware that what we are doing is wrong and it is risky, but we had to do it. Look we are willing to pay for a legal connection but the truth is we will no get it,” he said.

Illegal connections are a crime – theft of electricity and interference with Eskom’s infrastructure.

IF YOU DO NOT PAY YOUR ELECTRICITY, IT IS ALSO A CRIME – all those expected to receive electricity for free and do not want to pay any bill but they want to be connected 100%.

Sabotage to the system

When a transformer explodes, it can’t be fixed, says Bala adding that it has to be replaced and replacing a transformer can cost anywhere between R80,000 to R100,000.

“These replacements are costing Eskom billions of Rand annually. Eskom’s main concern is that illegal connections are a danger to the community, and often result in serious injury or even death, and damage to property,” he noted.

The excessive usage of electricity resulting from the illegal connections overloads the transformers, causing explosions that result in prolonged unplanned outages that can last for many days and leave all homes, traffic lights and businesses in the area without power.

An investigation during March 2015 was carried out by the city of Johannesburg uncovered an electricity rigging syndicate that has cost the council around R22-million.   Businesses working together with corrupt council workers have been manipulating accounts so that they pay nothing, while the public forks out more. Is it the tip of the iceberg?

How can we as Afrikaners and Boers, the white minority,  have to listen all day and night how bad we are, because everything is laid at the door of the so-caled apartheid, we have stolen their land, killed their people and yet the load shedding has nothing to do with us, because every day their tunes change and every year it is the same sad storis. We are directly affected – therefore – voting for our own future, without this bunch of communists helping each other receive free electricity from our pockets.   They sabotage all taxpayers and businesses.

Eskom sages is reeds ‘n ramp “SABOTAGE”

“Beurtkrag” is net so ‘n geskepte woord as “reënboognasie”.
