Parlement Suid-Afrika

SALARIES OF MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT

In 2016 (and 2017), the salary for ministers was at R2.31 million per annum – with the Zuma-approved 4% increase, this will now be around R2.4 million.   Likewise, for deputies, salaries will increase from R1.9 million to R1.98 million after the 4% hike.  The 4% hike also applies to all judges and the provincial executive, who were also affected by the salary freeze. Their new salaries for 2018 are reflected as follows:

  • Minister – R2.4 million (up from R2.31 million)
  • Deputy minister – R1.98 million (up from R1.9 million)
  • Premier – R2.256 million (up from R2.17 million)
  • ConCourt/SCA Judge – R2.256 million (up from R2.17 million)
  • High Court Judge – R1.84 million (up from R1.77 million)

Zuma approved 4.5% salary hikes for MPs, Kings and Queens and provincial leaders.

  • Members of parliament – R1.08 million (up from R1.03 million)
  • Kings/Queens – R1.18 million (up from R1.13 million)

Magistrates were granted a 5.5% increase, which would take salaries up from R835,000 in 2016/17 to R880,925 in 2018.    read more:     2017 SALARIES

Wie word vir die gek gehou?

Belastingbetalers!!  Wie dra by tot hierdie groot STAATSkas?

Parliament's spokesman Moloto Mothapo says the understanding had always been that the increases would kick in as soon as additional money was found in the budget.

2018 –
Parliament’s executive managers have received more than R2-million in salary increases backdated to April last year – raising the ire of staff who say their bosses had previously agreed to forfeit such hikes because there was no money.

Last week 18 of parliament’s division managers, who earn between R1.5-million and R1.8-million a year, each took home at least R100,000 in back pay.   The managers, who run administrative and other functions for the legislature, have been demanding the increases since the beginning of the year.             Increase and backPAY 2018
