Limpopo Farm Attack – Georges Valley

The attack took place at around 23:00 on a farm in the Georges Valley area leaving a man and his elderly mother physically and emotionally scarred.

A manhunt was launched after a brutal farm attack on Saturday evening 18 May.

The attack took place at around 23:00 on a farm in the Georges Valley area leaving  a man and his elderly mother physically and emotionally scarred.

According to Sergeant Maurice Nkhwashu of the Tzaneen SAPS, three male suspects attacked the man who is in his late 40’s as he was about to enter his home that evening.

The suspects are said to have tied the man up before entering his house.

They took R2 000 from the man and an additional R15 000 from his mother who was found in the house, according to Nkwashu.

“After ransacking the entire house, the suspects then plugged in a clothes iron. When it was hot, they burnt the man’s buttocks and his stomach,” Nkwashu told the Herald.

According to a family member the man and his mother are receiving counseling to assist them with dealing with the incident that left them traumatised and in shock.

Police investigations are ongoing.

This is the second incident on a farm in the Georges Valley within a week.

A case of attempted murder was also opened after a man got shot on Tuesday night, May 14, in Georges Valley.

The incident occurred around 20:30. It was initially believed to be a farm attack.

Letaba Herald was told that the victim, Zimbabwean citizen Moses Takudzwa Moyo (26) and an employee at the farm alleged that he was sitting outside at the compound when he heard dogs barking.

Moyo saw an unknown man approaching him that allegedly simply said “hey”.

Before Moyo could respond, the man shot him on his right arm.

He was admitted to Van Velden Hospital.

The suspect is unknown and no arrests have been made.

“Members of the public are advised and encouraged to report all incidents of crime immediately. It is important to avoid distortion of evidence, and to have a successful construction of evidence through the witnesses because their minds will still be fresh,” Police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe told the HERALD.
