Human Rights Commission – Eben Etzebeth

What did Eben say on his facebook profile?
“It is completely untrue and unfounded to claim that I physically or racially abused anyone in Langebaan as has been reported on social media. Multiple witnesses can corroborate that.   I am and will always strive to be a true ambassador to this beautiful rainbow nation and the sport that I love.”

The Afrikanerbond (previously Broederbond) has their own wording in Maroelamedia and considers the Human Rights Commission as unbelievable. They then helped build the MRC.
ONGELOOFWAARDIG

PERSONAL OPINION

Although not in agreement with Eben Etzebeth’s so-called “rainbow nation”, it is emphasized that the “rainbow nation” has never existed – is crucial to open the eyes before it is too late.   He is not the only one to believe that and clearly had to focus on his career as a sports person and not on trying to convince a failed or fake nation to believe him or to be their “ambassador”.   No one wants to rub it in, but it goes like this in every area.   B-BBEE is still alive, on the sport field as well.

Etzebeth and all his fellow peoples who think there are a “rainbow nation” must visit all the white poor settlements and squatter camps, then he and the others will see  what a failed and fake rainbow nation does to people which you are part of.    It totally destroys.    Soon, they will spit out those types of players who “unconditionally believed in the so-called rainbow nation”. Don’t just focus on sports, but work on an alternative career.   The majority in South Africa will not see you as their “ambassador”.

PERSOONLIKE OPINIE

2 October 2019 – What legal action must be taken?   Question also was there not enough time since 30 August until now to stop his tour, if he was guilty of something?   Where is the evidence to this case?
The SA Human Rights Commission says it’s disappointed the SA Rugby Union is not taking any legal action against Eben Etzebeth.

The South African rugby union has started a confidential “internal process” with Springboks lock Eben Etzebeth over allegations he physically and racially abused a person in South Africa before the Rugby World Cup. SA Rugby issued a statement about the process on Thursday, a day after the South African Human Rights Commission announced it would take Etzebeth to an equality court on Friday over the allegations. That’s the same day Etzebeth is due to play for the Springboks in a crucial pool game against Italy at the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Etzebeth has denied any assault or racial abuse and SA Rugby didn’t say he would be withdrawn from the squad. The indications are he will stay in Japan and play against Italy at Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa.

There was a dramatic twist in the ongoing saga involving veteran Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth and a brawl in Langebaan.     On the eve of the team’s departure for the World Cup in Japan, Etzebeth appeared before the Human Rights Commission to answer questions related to the incident at the West Coast town at the weekend.

The accusations against Etzebeth – based on a grainy and dark video that shows very little – suggested he had assaulted a member of the public. It was alleged that Etzebeth‚ who was with members of his family and friends‚ also made racial slurs.   On the Sunday there were swift calls from the Khoisan Defiance Campaign, for the Springbok to be axed and arrested for assault. Another statement was released by the group on Tuesday.

Despite the fallout over the incident, Bok coach Rassie Erasmus backed the lock and included Etzebeth in his squad for the World Cup. The team is due to leave for Japan on Friday.   Speaking at the team’s departure media briefing, Erasmus confirmed the lock appeared in front of the HRC on Thursday. He reiterated again that he still believes the player’s version of the events.    “There is always a coach-player relationship and there is always trust in that,” said Erasmus. “There are a lot of this said on social media, not just about Eben, but a lot of things we have to handle daily. We just ignore because it is just nonsense.    “This has become a real big thing. I have to believe what the player tells me. Until something else is proven differently, only then can we act.    Eben and Eugene Henning discussed the matter with the HRC.

The pub’s owner, Riaan Reeders, spoke with Sport24 about what happened next:

An incident inside the bar then took place at around midnight, which saw one man involved in a scuffle in the upstairs section of the bar with certain members of Etzebeth’s party.

That incident, Reeders says, has resulted in the man who was removed from the premises opening a police case against members of the group.

Reeders says that Etzebeth and his friends then left the pub at around 02:00 on Sunday morning and were then involved in another incident that took place in the streets.

“At around 02:00 Eben and his friends left, and then there was a group of people at the centre across the road from us,” Reeders told Sport24 on Monday morning.

“Something happened there … I’m not sure what happened with the fighting, or whatever, with the Etzebeths. I wasn’t there and I can’t tell you what happened.”

Bar owner Reeders says that Etzebeth was accompanied by his girlfriend, his brother Ryen and his wife, his cousin Emile, and others he didn’t recognise.

Reeders says the incident that happened in his bar was resolved quickly, and that in his mind it had nothing to do with what happened in the street afterwards.

“It wasn’t a related incident. It was just a guy … it happened upstairs and we took him out,” he said.

“I don’t know if there was charges laid there from that group (the incident in the street). I suppose there will be, because the one man was hurt quite badly.”

Reeders said he had examined the CCTV footage from the incident inside his bar, and that Etzebeth had not been involved in the scuffle.

“Eben and his brother were not involved in that,” he said.

“I looked at the footage yesterday morning and they were sitting at the table with the women or whatever … they weren’t part of it.”

quote – Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says: “It is alleged there was an argument between two groups. There were people who were injured and transported to hospital.   “The investigating officer is obtaining statements from the victims with no arrests so far.   “This office has not identified any suspects yet.”

In the first video, a group of men follows another group and someone shouts: “Maak ’n video van die n*** wat virrie Springbokke speel.”    According to a source, Etzebeth and his friends were leaving the restaurant when someone in their group allegedly referred to some coloured men as hot****e and a fight ensued outside the restaurant.    The two videos were posted on YouTube.   Etzebeth took to Facebook on Sunday denying the allegations.

JONES – The South African Human Rights Commission says the four complainants in the Eben Etzebeth matter have asked for financial compensation of over a million-rand. The SAHRC has formally lodged a complaint against the Springbok lock in the Equality Court for an alleged racial slur and assault at Langebaan, on the West Coast, in August. Head of the Commission’s Legal Services, Buang Jones, says the court will determine if Etzebeth has violated the Equality Act. He says the commission isn’t asking for Etzebeth’s recall from the World Cup, but that the law should take its course.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgk1S7exztk
