“unconstitutional” rights of prisoners – Breytenbach (DA)

During 2019 it was reported previously that Ramaphosa’s suggested that prisoners should be made to do hard labour, while Breytenbach of the DA is of the opinion that it is both unconstitutional and populist.   Ramaphosa is reported to have told mourners at the funeral of Precious Ramabsulana that “government would work to change the justice system to ensure that people convicted of crimes against women and children remain behind bars for life and under the harshest conditions.”

Hulle gee nie om nie, want hulle word deur veiligheidswagte beskerm en belastingbetalers betaal daarvoor.   Malema het heelwat wagte wat hom oppas, so het elke politieke leier daardie voordeel.  Vir wie is hulle bang as hulle so opgepas word?

WIE stem vir die BBP in parlement, net om hulle groot salarisse en byvoordele te betaal – wat doen hulle vir hul ondersteuners?    Interessant, die ondersteuners is soos iemand soos ‘n getroue slaaf en bandopname opdragte uitvoer, hulle brand die land af, deur wie word HULLE betaal om alles te vernietig?  Brand die land af sodat iemand anders dit weer moet regmaak en betaal.

Why must criminal get 5 star treatments in jail and beter off than their victims?     Our entire country, our towns and cities are burning and being destroyed, they are in deep ditches and ash heaps, streets with potholes, because of the corruption, crimes and murders. Members of political parties are playing cat and mouse with the public today.   Commissions did nothing to the people of South Africa.   

Those in parliament, they don’t care because they are protected by security guards and taxpayers pay for it.   Why are they so scared and afraid of to have dozens and protected by security guards?    They created this system of crime attacks and murders, not the supporters.   How many murders are there on a daily basis?

WHO ARE VOTING FOR THOSE VIPs?   Do they want the country being destroyed?


PREVIOUSLY

Ramaphosa has indicated that he would like some prisoners to face “hard labour” in jail.  AGREE WITH THAT.    The DA is against such suggestion.

Agree with hard labour for all criminals, especially killers, attackers and rapers – they do not belong in any community – they must not have any human rights, because they took away their victim’s right to live.  To enter illegally any home to steal, attack, kill or rape are also unconstitutional  –

Breytenbach, spokesperson of the DA must read her so-called constitution about lives that have been taken away in South Africa – if you supported any criminal, you are also unconstitutional.   Read the Bill of rights – citizens have also rights.

We live in a country with killers, rapers, attackers, MOSTLY ON THE RUN and others in jail treated 5 star like a hotel – it is unconstitutional for criminal to go into houses, properties, businesses, burning tyres, throwing stones and kill innocent people in the street!!!   How many of those criminals are still on the run? That is also not part of any democracy – we don’t have a democracy at all, while it is the victims that suffer more.

 

He was quoted as adding: “They should not be in jail and enjoy life there, they should be subjected to hard labour – the harshest of labour,” and to have called for the state having “active record” of all offenders found guilty of crimes against women and children.

Ramabulana was found in her residence near the Capricorn TVET college in Limpopo last week after being stabbed 52 times

DA justice spokesperson Glynnis Breytenbach said the president’s remarks were cause for concern and of a similar nature to those by Justice Minister Ronald Lamola last week. He suggested that Cabinet should discuss a return of the death penalty.

“These types of statements are unfortunate, emotional and coming from the president of a Constitutional democracy, frankly deeply disappointing. It is cheap talk, speaking to placate the general population, but which can never be delivered.  The tragedy which befell Precious Ramabulana happens all too often in South Africa, and now, on an almost weekly basis.”

Breytenbach said fighting gender-based violence required a multi-faceted approach.

“This will, unfortunately, require a much more comprehensive approach than the frankly unconstitutional suggestions offered by President Ramaphosa. It will also require a lot of hard work and commitment, and the political will to address the problem,” Breytenbach said.

She said the prison system was so compromised that there was no hope of rehabilitation in jail.

“Increasing sentences and then throwing away the key is no solution to what is largely a societal and socio-economic problem. To suggest that hard labour or the death sentence will solve the problem is to bury one’s head in the sand, and the president will have to do so much better if we are to begin to solve the problem of GBV (gender-based violence).”

She said government would have to spend money on solving the problem, including recapacitating the entire criminal justice system.
