Man sustains critical injuries after explosion at a Bryanston complex. Paramedics responded to reports of a shooting, only to find out an explosion had occurred.

Netcare 911 responded to what was first reported to be a shooting at a residential complex on Hobart Road in Bryanston, Sandton this afternoon (28 June).
With further inspection, spokesperson for Netcare 911, Shawn Herbst, said a shooting had not occurred but an explosion that left an adult male with critical injuries, due to amputation and extensive burns.
Paramedics treated the patient with advanced life support, and once stabilised, he was transported by ambulance to a hospital to receive further treatment.
The scene was cordoned off by the police for further investigation and the type of explosion is yet to be determined.

Gauteng: At 16H41 Friday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at a residential complex on Hobart Road in Bryanston Sandton. Reports from the scene indicate that an explosion had taken place and not a shooting. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that an adult male had sustained critical injuries in the explosion due to an amputation and extensive burns. The patient was treated on scene by an Advanced life support paramedic and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment. The type of explosion has yet to be determined however the scene has been cordoned off for the SAPS to investigate.
